Human-Centric AI for Europe’s Public Sector

AI4Gov-X is a pioneering European initiative designed to ensure that artificial intelligence serves the public good. Co-funded by the European Commission’s Digital Europe Programme , the project is equipping a new generation of public sector professionals to govern AI in a democratic, fair, and citizen-first way.

At its core, AI4Gov-X promotes a human-centric approach to digital transformation—one that protects fundamental rights, strengthens public services, and ensures that technology reflects the needs and values of European communities.

Just as electricity transformed society, AI is reshaping how governments make decisions, deliver services, and engage with citizens. AI4Gov-X is ensuring that this transformation is inclusive, responsible, and focused on people, not just systems.

With, 42 partners across Europe including leading universities such as those listed below, the project brings together civil servants, researchers, policymakers, and tech experts to build the skills, tools, and networks needed for ethical and effective AI governance.
